Verzekeringsportwagen.nl is a trade name of European Insurance B.V.. We handle your personal data with care and comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, in Dutch: AVG). In this privacy statement, you can read which data we process, why we do so and what rights you have.

European Insurance B.V. is the data controller for the data you provide to us via this website and via the pages of our partners (car dealers).

What data we process

• Name, date of birth, address, postcode, e-mail address and telephone number.
• Data about your car: make, model, year of manufacture, registration number, value, mileage, where it is kept and security.
• Data needed to apply for insurance, such as your driving experience, claims history, the desired cover and any particulars you specify yourself.
• A photo of your car, if you upload one.
• Policy data if you take out insurance with us, such as policy number, insurer, premium and start date.
• Technical data: IP address, browser data and the time of your application. We keep these as proof of your agreement.

What we use your data for

• To assess your application, advise you and make a proposal. Legal basis: steps taken at your request prior to entering into a contract.
• To conclude and administer the insurance, and to provide service in the event of changes and claims. Legal basis: performance of the contract.
• To comply with legal obligations, such as the rules of the Financial Supervision Act (Wet op het financieel toezicht), the Sanctions Act (Sanctiewet) and the statutory tax retention obligation. Legal basis: legal obligation.
• To let the car dealership that referred you to us know how your application is progressing, and to calculate the commission for that car dealership. Legal basis: legitimate interest.
• To improve our website and, only with your consent, to measure visits and improve advertisements. Legal basis: consent, which you can withdraw at any time via Cookie settings at the bottom of the website.
• To show your car as an example on our website (without registration number and name), only if you have given your consent. Legal basis: consent.

With whom we share data

• Insurers and, where necessary, valuers and experts, in order to apply for and administer your insurance. In doing so, insurers may consult the database of Stichting CIS.
• The car dealership through which you came to us. It can see the status of your application. With a separate agreement, it can also view your application and the policy schedule. The car dealership does not provide insurance advice itself.
• The RDW: if you enter your registration number, we retrieve the public vehicle data.
• Service providers who help us, such as our hosting provider and e-mail provider. If the response to your car photo is generated automatically, we use an image recognition service for this. We have agreements with these parties on security and confidentiality.
• Bodies to which we are required by law to provide data.

We never sell your data. If data is processed outside the European Economic Area, we ensure appropriate safeguards, such as the standard contractual clauses of the European Commission.

How long we keep data

• If no insurance is concluded, we keep your application for a maximum of one year.
• If you take out insurance, we keep your data for as long as the insurance runs and thereafter for as long as the law requires, as a rule seven years.
• Photos that do not belong to an application are automatically deleted within a day.

Your rights

You have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or to have it deleted. You can also object to its use, request restriction and request that your data be transferred. If you have given consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Send your request to info@europeaninsurance.nl. We will respond within four weeks.

If you disagree with how we handle your data, please let us know. You can also lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) via autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl.

Security

We protect your data with appropriate technical and organisational measures. The website uses a secure connection (https), access to data is protected by personal login accounts and we do not keep more data than necessary.

We use necessary cookies to make the website work. We place cookies for statistics and advertisements only with your consent. You can change your choice via Cookie settings at the bottom of every page.
